We have a really fun gig at 70'S last night... a bit sloppy pero masaya pa rin... Yun Lang... Busy busy busy busy...

hello again..

Tinatamad pa ako umuwi so here it goes...

Soft Pillow Kisses has been playing a number of gigs lately... Bakit kaya? Syempre, may bago kaming vocalist (Marian) and at the same time medyo maluwang yung sched ni Janpol at ni Sir Charles... si Rene ganun din except for weekends kung saan may duty raw sya as a nurse... Ako naman eh may sakit na yata sa puso...

Nandito nga pala yung dati namin Keyboardist (Dale Marquez) pero kahapon lang kami nagkita sa 70's Bistro... He is very busy with lots of things daw at mayroon naka-line-up na gig yung isa pa nyang banda (Sonnet LVIII)... sayang coz he'll be leaving for the US this coming Sunday na... Gusto ko san Pumunta mamaya sa Saguijo kasi may gig sila dun pero parang mabigat ang pakiramdam ko (Attn: Charles and Dennis)... hay naku... It's really great seeing old friends again... Si Dale di lang yang basta basta ng ganyan... malalim yan in terms of taste pero he's so down to earth... very rare indeed...

Si Selena ang nag recommend sa akin sa kanya... She Also has another band called The Automatics...
Akala ko nga nun ay di na namin sya makak-jam kasi madalas di natutloy yung balak kong pakikipag kita sa kanya (Busy body kasi ako eh)...
Sa sobrang napasubo na ako dahil sa naka-line-up kami sa UP Fair nung Feb 16, ginawan ko nalang ng paraan na makakuha sya ng materials namin from the net... yung mga lyrics naman tinext ko nalang sa kanya... (Thanks nga pala kay Selena for giving in to my pangungulit nung Feb. 14 para makapag-Upload ng mga songs namin sa MySpace nya...)
We were able to have practice a night before Marian's first gig nung Feb. 15... we focused on just 2-3 songs. medyo alanganin nga ako nung time na yun to puh through with the UP gig kasi d ako satisfied sa pagkanta nya pero naisip ko na "cge talu-talo na! It went out fine naman kahit na medyo sumasablay kami nung first song namin nung Fair sa "Your Shoes Are Untied". Pero when we did "Bathing In The Sun", i did hear some promise in her voice.
A friend of mine suggested na baka di cya bagay sa Pillow kasi iba yung singing style nya pero when i asked her about it, she told me na mas gusto raw nya ng ganung style of singing.... case closed...
I was looking forward to another gig to test kung tama nga yung iniisip ko about her ability to sing my songs the way i wanted it to be done. so i had us booked sa 70's last Monday and i called for a practice session the night before... Oken naman yung practice pero mas napansin ko na iba yung pagkanta nya... so i asked her kung kaya nya kumanta ng mas "mahangin" ang she replied "Kailangan ba talaga?"... Grabeh! nailang ako bigla... hehehe okey lang. "you can't do things naman at a snap of a finger" d ba? so binabaan ko nalang yung expectations ko for the 70's gig and proceeded to practice 9 songs that night focusing on just 5 songs...
During the the 70's gig, i learned na kami lang pala yung banda na mag-jajam so nung magkakasama na kami, i suggested that we do 7 songs... wala namang nagreklamo so we did and she was able to sing the songs the way i had hoped it to be... Syempre may mga sabit pero sobrang konti nalang, and to think that second gig pa lang, 7 songs na agad yung kaya namin...

May gig nga pala yung Soft Pillow Kisses sa Penguin Bar somewhere sa Malate along Adriatico Circle... Punta kayo ha...

Kasama namin yung Tether... Di ko alam kung cno pa yung ibang bands pero puro "Girl Fronted" daw...

We played at the UP Fair last friday Feb 16... Our new vocalist - Marian, did quite well.
Tonight we will play at 70's Bistro... See you there...

UP Fair Gig

Hello hello...

Mabilis lang ito... Candyaudioline, Soft Pillow Kisses And Populardays will be playing at the UP Fair this Friday Feb. 16, 2007... Still haven't been able to meet up with our "Singer Prospect" due to the very busy and erratic scheds i've been having lately... i tried convincing Jinky to sing for us for this Friday's sched but she is still , i think, traumatized from last week's Don Bosco stint...

Here We Go Again and Again And Again...

Wala nanaman kaming singer... hay naku... too bad because Jinky was already becoming the singer na i was hoping her to be...

Ganito kasi yun... it's been a long while since we played as a complete unit (Me, Charles, Jinky, Janpol and Rene) ... and we haven't had any decent practice for quite some time na... last Saturady was buzz night but Rene (Bassist) told us a weeks prior that he won't be able to make it kasi ma duty sha (nurse po si Rene). So me and Charles decided that we'll go Unplugged sa Buzz Night since yung availabitlity ni Janpol was also in Question... A few hours prior to Buzz Night, me, Charles and Jinky were at a 3-way phone conference kulitan when Rene texted us that he's available for the night... Candyaudioline (my other band) was slated to perform that same night at Don Bosco Mandaluyong but since we (Candy) was having problems of its own, i decided to let Soft Pillow Kisses play in it's place... Going to the gig. Jinky was already having problems with her "Confidence Level" having a good view of the crowd from our band room. When we went back stage it was really obvious that she was very uncomfortable and that her stage fright was really getter the better of her... We went on to play 5 songs infront of about 4,000 people... i could see her very nervous face from the widescreen tower about 4 meters away... during each song, i constantly reminded her just to stay calm and to relax... but she did otherwise... at the end of our set... she kept on apologizing... i told her na i think we did a decent set and assured her that everything was fine. i also told her to relax a bit because we were also playing at buzz night in a short while...

It was around 1am but my chances of reaching mayrics was close to impossible... so i called up Charles and Janpol and convinced them to play without me. They were really hesitant at first but with Kel's (Candyaudioline drummer) help and convincing power... they did play. Kel played my guitar parts while Rene sang my parts also...

I met up with Charles and Janpol afterwards and they told me that the Mayrics thing they just did was really great... i was really happy to hear that but they also told me they were not pleased with Jinky's attitude during the Don Bosco gig... Well, so was I... but we decided to forget the whole thing and enjoyed the rest of the night doing what we do best... hehehe... EATING...

Come Sunday morning, Jinky texted me that she will no longer sing for Pillow... Oh well... I'm looking forward to better days ahead...
