Hello Everyone...

last night, we played at 70's bistro without our our vocalist... it was still a good set but we were really disappointed that Jinky didn't show up... i really felt very awkward singing alone last night... it was a good thing that the crowd at 70's was very receptive (polite)... i fact i was even able to dish out some really pathetic lines which really made some of the crowd present smile a bit. lines like " good evening, we are soft pillow kisses. wala yung vocaist namin ngayon kasi nakipag-away cguro sa boy friend? ako nalang muna kakanta..." and "alam nyo, magaling naman kami 'pag practice pero ewan ko ba kung bakit kami ganito ngayon..."

after the gig, me, charles and rene did some thinking as to what to do with jinky so we wasted no time and interview any pretty girl that we were able to lay our eyes on... actually we already have a prospect but me and charles are a bit hesitant because of... well okey...

this afternoon, i was able to talk to jinky and she explained her side. i really can't accept her excuses because it was... ok, i won't elaborate...

this saturday, we will be playing at big sky... according to rene, jinky texted him that she'll be singing in that gig... ok i'll give her another chance but she'll have a lot of catching up to do, so she has to do it by herself. we won't be able to practice anymore for i'll be leaving for Hongkong tomorrow morning... if things turn out fine in that gig, then i'll forget how scared she was of performing last night to a point that she didn't show up and didn't even bothered to inform us even by just texting... by the way, i really hate situations wherein a phone is turned off in a effort to ditch any possibility of contact...

hello everyone...

it's been a while now since soft pillow kisses played 2 straight gigs in a row but we did it anyway...

soft pillow kisses played 2 successive gigs last monday and yesterday at 70's bistro (Anonas) with Kel of Candyaudioline filling in for janpol on drums and Conspiracy (Visayas Ave.) - with both kel and dennis (on guitars) of candyaudioline filling in for both janpol and charles - respectively... both gigs was well received but more important, to us especially because we intended to us these gigs to futher improve on our new vovalist's "perfomance style"... we were able to record it on video - 3 songs from the 70's Bistro gig, and 3/4's of "wasting opportunities from the conspiracy gig...

i will be uploading them soon once i get time to do so... ookie... long live (the) Queen's (Castle)!!!

The 70's Show...

hello everyone...

tonight we'll be playing at 70's Bistro... it is going to be the second gig for us and hopefully, improvements we'll be seen tonight... By the way, Janpol - our drummer - will be out of action for at least 2 weeks due to his work sched. Kel from Candyaudioline will be filling in... I also plan to play at conspiracy tomorrow if all things go well tonight and if everyone will be available tomorrow...

wish i could get the album out very soon so i could sell some copies at gigs... hehehe...

Back Again At Last...

Hello everyone...

For the first time in the past 3 months, we were able to play again as a complete unit... as i've mentioned in my last post, we have two new members. Jinky's the name of our new singer while the new bassist is Rene... I thought we had a great gig last Buzz Night but after watching a video that we took of our set i noticed that there was a lot to be done to improve the band, specially the singer... I saw her when her band played during last month's buzz night and during that time i was convinced that she was a good choice for a vocalist... i was wrong... during the two practice sessions that we had before the gig, i failed to notice the flaws.

last night i wasted no time and made use of my free time to meet up my my two new bandmates and bond together along with my candymates dennis and mavi. we went to 77 in kamuning where i thought i could get a chance to give jinky a one on one but i was so did tracted by the volume of people who frequent that place nowadays. but we did get the chance to practice and i was quite relieved upon learning that the flaws that i saw in jinky could still be remedied but i think it'll still take some time before i can get what i want out of her...

this Monday we'll be playing at 70's bistro, hope by that gig, i could get at lest 65% of what i'm really expecting from her... as for our new bassist, i think he's one of the best ones i had in any band that i've been into...

Here We Go Again...

hello everyone,

This Blog has been very quiet for the past 2 months because of a number of reasons. one is the in-activeness brought about by personnel hang-ups and work related reasons. Also the delay of the album's release brought about by such problems has forced me to keep quiet and just focus on fixing the situation...

Now i'm happy to say the the problem has been solved and that Soft Pillow Kisses has again undergone another line-up change... We now have a new bassist and a new vocalist... last tuesday, we practiced and we were able to do about nine songs. both new members are really skilled. Jinky, the new vocalist has a louder voice and range-wise she has an edge over the previous vocalist we had. i would just like to thank Jerry of the band Kim Deal's Revenge (of which Jinky is also the vocalist) for allowing Jinky to sing for us .. Rene, the new bassist, on the other hand is a great bass player and a fast learner too. he's also into the same type of music that we are all into...

Just can't wait to debut the new line-up on this saturday's buzz night...

this blog have been very quiet due to reason i could not share with you...

here are some of the things that i am willing to share...

i've decided to get william back as our bassist... charles recently had his haircut... janpol is busy with his work. he's been seen a number of times in the vicinity of ortigas wearing coat and tie (only?)... eloha has been staying away from drugs... me on the otherhand is pictured above (this was taken by dennis candyaudioline when we, together with carlo, checked in at a Sogo Hotel branch somewhere in Recto)...

as for the pillow cd... well... the album sleeve is almost done (the one on top is just a mock copy which erik popdays made)... i'll post a picture of it once i get a copy...

a little review...

soft pillow kisses so fucking great ! sounds like blueboy... indiepop full with nice
guitar sound and those sweet voice... is so unique it's 5 minutes track seems
so fast... and makes me want it to play it all over again n again.

apple orchard..is like the combination of shoegaze and indie pop with
male vocal..and have a very good english accent if u listen to it..u'll
never know that the songs is from phillipines good recording and very
surrounding sounds. the envy you men !

collour contest - this one is a twee pop band...more like a sweedish
band with a male vocal, very similiar with the acid house kings when
johan's singing.

saw some really crappy live footages of this band of mine - the other one being candyaudioline. taken sometime last february of this year during a university gig . since i wasn't doing anything, i decided to toy around with the footages and... this came out of it... the audio is a track from our yet to be released (via indie-means) new album also called "just like the sky". hope you'll like this one...

we talked about the possible delay of the release of the album due to absence of "cover artwork", possibility of the album being distributed by a major label,
and also plans of how to squeeze in time for practice and gigs now that all of the members are busy with his/her own rackets...

i just can't wait to be with you guys again... and i really miss doing pillow songs live...

yes, we haven't seen each other lately... i think the last time was, hmmmm... can't seem to remember...

anyways, everyone i guess is busy with his and her own thing... eloha has been working past office hours i've heard... charles, whom i had a chance to talk to yesterday had just quit his call center job and has been very busy with his other artsy sidelines... i've also learned from charles that jannpaul is working somewhere in ortigas at a call center but there's nothing to worry about because his schedule allows him enough time to still be in a band... as for william, i've yet to hear from him... me on the other hand have my time eaten up by my backbeat duties...

hopefully soon, we'll get some time to see each other again, have practice and play a few gig's in support of "just Like The Sky"...

Just Like The Sky!!!

hellooo...

i'm happy to let you know that i already have with me the mastered "just like the sky" album... although it was not the actual output i was expecting. just the same, i'm pretty pleased with the way it has turned out... it sounds bit polished i guess but raw-ness of the songs are still there...

13 tracks in all... my personal favorites are "16ft", "beneath the glare", "try to smile", "vodka ice #3", "taste like vintage wine", "so-called friend", "bean bag" and 'losing something"...

expect this to be out in a month's time...

two in a row

hello everyone

soft pillow kisses have had two great gigs during the past few days… the one in 70’s bistro last Monday was a big surprise because we didn’t expect us to sound so good. For the last few stints he had at 70’s, we always complain about how sparse we sound because of the venue’s set-up. But last Monday, it was like a different venue… the sound was all over the place which made us feel so relaxed and confident… our song “try to smile” got a real push that night thanks to the neat reverb effect of the mics…

last night naman, we played at gweilos libis for a 4AD event organized by guys from Skies Of Ember… this one we really enjoyed because aside from the really nice PA set-up and the classy feel of the place, there were lots of really pretty faces around… we started our set on a high note with “so-called friend” then slumped a bit during a pixies cover. But after that it was all skywards until the last song “losing something”…

we didn’t stay long but we did get to catch my science project who played before us and a few songs from skies of ember who I may say was really awesome that night… it’s great to see these guys in top form again…

I can’t post the rest of what happened but just to give you an idea… we were all smiles about it… ngeeeerrheeeerreeeeerrrgheerk…


tomorrow, we will be at it again at conspiracy for a semi-acoustic gig with moonstar88 and come saturday will be buzz night... if you're free, do drop by...

Recording Updates and Pillow Gigs...

hello everyone...

we are still waiting for an opportunity to have the songs remastered... i was able to talk to dominic (pink noise engineer) this afternoon regarding the adjustments that will be made with regards to the "sonic" output of the songs...

i have recently sent copies to 2 major record labels but as of late, they have still to give their comments on the album... one of them have already listened to the album and guess have undergone preliminary deliverations... the other label promised me to give it a listen this weekend... actually i'm getting tired of waiting. if only i did not spend such a large sum for this project, i'd rather have released it elsewhere pero hindi naman ako mayaman at kailangan ko mabawi ito somehow... oh well, i guess i have to consider my 2nd option of releasing it myself...

by the way. we had practice last night in preparation for 2 gigs next week. one at 70's bistro this coming monday and another one at gweilos libis also this coming tuesday. the libis gig is a 4AD thing. we'll be doing a cover from the pixies "wave of mutilation". actually we have tried to do a different take on the song but i guess such is a very difficult thing to do... we'll have another practice session this coming saturday or sunday. hopefully we get to do it right this time and add another cover, maybe a pale saints song...

hope everything goes well for us in the next few days and also we get to put out the "just like the sky" album in the shortest possible time...

oh well, it just goes to how how life is such an awful excuse for torture... you gain some, you lose everything. a one minute smile is usually followed by an eternity of sorrows. the price of victory is usually misery... and happiness is just tragedy waiting to happen...

"just like the sky" has just undergone it's final editing stage and has just been mastered although it's not yet final due to a failure in the mastering program... just the same, it's sounds great!!!

i've been thinking for sometime now on how it's going to be released... original plan is to offer it to foreign indie labels but since the recording cost was miles away from the original target cost... i guess i'll be offering the album to local major labels and hopefully score a distribution deal which could help me, at least get back some of the doe i threw away...

now... i'm just waiting for something REALLY ANNOYING to happen...

Matinee Records begged of saying that they are not signing up new bands at the moment because the have so many pending artist releases as of the moment... anothe label, elephant records from spain has shown interest and has requested me to send them copied of the album...

Soft Pillow Kisses Recording Update

hello everyone...

we were able to finish mixing the whole album last week. but after a few listens and talking things over with charles, i decided to re-mix the whole thing again.

the reason is that, we, specially me, feel that the sound made by our engineer was a bit far from what we really wanted to sound-out. dominic, the engineer, did a really great job of making us sound so splendid.

so wasting no time, me and dominic started remixing last monday (april 10). we were able to finish doing 6 songs and i guess this is definitely it. if you were present last buzz night (april 12), i domo-ed about 4 of the songs at mayrics... although two of the six songs might need a little bit of "beefing-up". "under-cover angel" still requires some keyboards just to off-set some of the sort comings that we had (heheheh) and some added percussions for "just like the sky" will be rendered as soon as we get to decide on what to add...

we plan to finish everything next week and hopefully decide on whether to send it to interested foreign indie labels or just simply release it ourselves...

by the way, the album will be called "just like the sky".

April Buzz

hello everyone...

salamat nga pala sa mga naligaw sa buzz night last wednesday... we had a good sized crowd and quite a very enjoyable atmosphere that night...

hmmmm... i liked Slavedrum's set, they somewhat relaxed my tensed nerves. the beats, the guitars, the bass, the sampled loops and vocals where all in their proper places... i guess these guys really know what thet're doing. A very rare thing in the local music scene...

next was tether. this one was a reunion of sorts (all original members intact)... save for the out of tune instruments, they were very impressive and powerful... on a sour note however, according to one member, they are thinking of not continuing with the band anymore... well, i tried convincing him not to but... oh well, some people just don't know...

skies of ember followed... they are still one of the really great bands that have yet to be given a chance to be heard by more people. although i was a bit disappointed at their choice of song to covers...

soft pillow kisses followed. our first song was great but during the second and third songs we were beginning to look like a bunch of morons on a field trip courtesy of charles' brand "GRETCHS" new guitar... i guess we were able to redeem ourselves during the fifth and sixth song. eloha's voice was way up this time around and according to friends, she sang in tune, well it could've been better if it weren't for the stupid accent... i would like to thank Lara (Ex-Pillow bassist) for filling in for our current bassist William who at that time was scheduled for crucifixtion at a local "senakulo" event that he himself organized...

after pillow, candyaudioline took the stage... well the two straight practice sessions did the band good save for me and mavi's occassional out of tune singing - feeling ko, sobrang lakas ng monitors to a point na nakaka-conscious... we played mostly obscure candyaudioline songs, the high point for us was during "waste my time" and "light a candle". actually, that was the very first time that we (current line-up) played those songs live. the last time that those songs were played was when me and selena started dating more than two years ago... by the way, selena was present that night... there was supposed to be a coup of sorts but the other ex-candyaudioline members (Ayn, Ralph and Roel) did not show up...

kings and pawns followed... by this time i was a bit exhausted so i just listened to their set from outside... i think they did two new songs which were really good...

last band up sa my science project... sayang itong banda na ito... they have a really great keyboardist, great melodies and have become a tighter unit during their past few buzz night appearances. but... they have two flaws... one is that they lack guitar lines that could compliment the keyboards. puro nalang kasi keyboards yung nagdadala eh pero minor flaw lang yan... and pinakamalalang flaw ng bandang ito is the vocalist... i'd rather go for a vocalist who sings out-of-tune that one like him... nakakasira sya sa banda... dapat sa iyo dennis mag-weezer ka nalang... i've told him already at every opportunity that their songs should be delivered in twee-est fashion - meaning malambot, malambing at relaxed... may mga tao talagang marunong lang makinig... hanggang dun lang...

of the three songs we planned to mix last night, only "...vintage wine" was done... time was short but we did manage to mix another one, "your shoes are untied" this one sounded really great... i did not expect it to sound this good...

we are almost in the completion of a new, 13 track, soft pillow kisses album. we just finished our fifth session at pink noise. six of the songs are new while the rest are old songs. dominic the engeineer is very helpful and sobrang kasundo namin. talgang wala kaming kaproble-problema sa paglelayin. actually angbilis ng recording ngayon baka by next week ay matatapos na yung mga songs, we are very buzy right now sa recording and hopefully soon isusunod naman namin yung mga superminty songs, ibang iba ang mga songs ng pillow ngayon maybe siguro iba na ang members ng banda kaya ganun, im very excited na matapos na itong album and im sure na pati mga bandmates too.

sa susunod na session sana di na kami magkamali ng oorderin ni charles sa wendys nakakadipres kasi!!!

hello ello!!!

still very busy withy work... also, i've been using my free time for much needed rest... wala muna gaanong gimmick... promise, 'pag makaluwang-luwang ako, mag-iingay ako dito... PRAMIZZ...

ETO, MAY IBUBULONG AKO... nagrerecord kami ng soft pillow kisses... 12 songs ang plano, 8 song na ang na-lay-in namin and after 2 sessions, (one last tuesday march 7, and the other one last sunday march 12, 4 song semi tapos na.. 2 songs, vox nalang ni eloha... hay sana lang.. sana lang...

a sunday practice session was held to ready us for this tuesday's up fair gig

tuesday february 14. valentines day... pillow played up fair...

we played at around 10pm and i think we slightly ruined the "rock mood of the night"... nevertheless. it was quite an enjoyable gig... we played 3 song all of which were new...
not much time to talk about it though...

by the way buzz night will be on the 4th of march...

i'll give some really note worthy account of things that transpired during the past few days once i get to free myself from the rigors of a busy work-sched and habitual self-loathing...

Let Me Try Again...

hi peeps...

as i've said in my candyaudioline blog, "i've been very busy during the past few days. work has swallowed up most of my time"... not giving me a chance to tell you the recent news about soft pillow kisses... so here it goes...

candyaudioline bassist arjay has been replaced by superminty bassist william as soft pillow kisses bassist. there was an attempt on my part to scout another bassist but william has begged me to let him be a permanent member of pillow. recently, i met-up with an interested prospect. gave her a copy of all the songs we every recorded. just last tuesday, she backed out citing her work as the main reason for not being able to try out... i've decided to give in to william's request...

i offered arjay to play keyboard for the band. he readily agreed but until now he has yet to practice with us...

soft pillow kisses vocalist eloha was almost booted out of the band by your's truly just last tuesday due to issues about her not being with us during practice and in the process spoiling our live performances with her quite embarrassing, way out of tune singing... be were able to talk to each other and she assured me that she doen't want to leave the band and that she had valid reasons for not going to recent practice sessions... everything was resolved that same night and during practice, eloha, inspite of nursing a bad cold, sang really well that night. specially on the newer songs because it was as if the songs were custome made for her...
my recent bout of depression has somehow ended my 3 year song writing drought... in the past 4 weeks, i was able to come up nearly 10 songs, 6 of which are complete. of the 6 one has gone from candyaudioline to soft pillow kisses... 2 songs has been played-live twice already by soft pillow kisses. two more have been recently given its final pillow treatment leaving just one song polished... these 6 songs has recently inspired me to again, go after my "ALMOST FORGOTTEN GOAL" of putting out an album or even an ep via foreign indie lable... plans are being made. hopefully we'll start recording the songs as soon as i'm damned dead sure that all of the new songs has reached its maturity...

tonight we might demo 4 of these 6 songs...

i would like to thank Apol (ex-pillow vocalist) for convincing me to give eloha a chance to air her side...

A Slight Letdown...

hi peeps...

i was looking forward to play an all new songs set last night. but because i wasn't sure if we could make it in time for buzz night coming from cavite city at around 12:25am, the excitement faded a bit. also, receiving from eloha that she could not wait for us any longer made me more non- interested in even reaching mayrics on time. to my surprise, upon arriving at mayrics, eloha was still there. but that didn't take away the "sudden lost of interest" that i was having towards the gig.. by the time i was finished setting up my gear, i've come to realise that i was going blank on the new songs... i tried to recall them but ti no avail... eloha too has yet to memorize all 4 songs... this resulted in a slightly erratic set. i kept fucking up the chords, and forgetting the lyrics every now and then. my mic was also playing with my mind... eloha too sang slightly off key... charles forgot some of his parts and william was at many times "caught with the wrong chords"... only janpol was consistent...

nevertheless, we had fun. the people were all too receptive (or to put it more correctly "they were very polite")... after that we went to mr kebab for our "off stage" bonding sessions with candyaudioline kel and ian popular days . candymates arjay and dennis decided to go with their friends from another band that played last night... as usual, aside from filling our stomachs with loads of persian delights, we nearly exhausted our eyes at the abundant flow beautiful faces, sexy bodies and nearly exposed patches of female skin. ang saya saya... yun lang...

oh well... maybe next time we'll be able to cut it properly...

wala lang. i just want to have a blog for Soft Pillow Kisses using an old nearly forgotten one...

well. i'm not going to write something now because i'm a bit sleepy. maybe in the days to come you'll be hearing a lot from me...

this blog was one called "feltsofine" and according to an old acquiantance, "it has served it's purpose..." now it has a new one and i just hope it does... if not, i'm still okey with that...

so what purpose would this "old blog whith a new name" serve? honestly, i still don't know yet...
