Some Updates...

hello everyone,

this blog have been very quiet due to reason i could not share with you...

here are some of the things that i am willing to share...

i've decided to get william back as our bassist... charles recently had his haircut... janpol is busy with his work. he's been seen a number of times in the vicinity of ortigas wearing coat and tie (only?)... eloha has been staying away from drugs... me on the otherhand is pictured above (this was taken by dennis candyaudioline when we, together with carlo, checked in at a Sogo Hotel branch somewhere in Recto)...

as for the pillow cd... well... the album sleeve is almost done (the one on top is just a mock copy which erik popdays made)... i'll post a picture of it once i get a copy...

after a few hours downloading the songs.. he listened all songs that he
just downloaded. he was shock..that..all of the songs seems
interested...and he couldn't believe it..that it comes from
phillipines. it's not like one of those..original band like.."parokya
ni edgar".

a little review...

soft pillow kisses so fucking great ! sounds like blueboy... indiepop full with nice
guitar sound and those sweet voice... is so unique it's 5 minutes track seems
so fast... and makes me want it to play it all over again n again.

apple orchard..is like the combination of shoegaze and indie pop with
male vocal..and have a very good english accent if u listen to it..u'll
never know that the songs is from phillipines good recording and very
surrounding sounds. the envy you men !

collour contest - this one is a twee pop band...more like a sweedish
band with a male vocal, very similiar with the acid house kings when
johan's singing.

saw some really crappy live footages of this band of mine - the other one being candyaudioline. taken sometime last february of this year during a university gig . since i wasn't doing anything, i decided to toy around with the footages and... this came out of it... the audio is a track from our yet to be released (via indie-means) new album also called "just like the sky". hope you'll like this one...

i'll be looking for a new bassist for soft pillow kisses from this point on... actually i think i should have done this a long time ago... they previous bassist that we had was sort of a burden during the past few months...

don't worry. we are still boing to put up the "just like the sky" album but i i won't put his name on the credits list and given an opportunity, i'll have all the bass parts re-recorded... how's that...

we talked about the possible delay of the release of the album due to absence of "cover artwork", possibility of the album being distributed by a major label,
and also plans of how to squeeze in time for practice and gigs now that all of the members are busy with his/her own rackets...

i just can't wait to be with you guys again... and i really miss doing pillow songs live...

hello again everyone...

yes, we haven't seen each other lately... i think the last time was, hmmmm... can't seem to remember...

anyways, everyone i guess is busy with his and her own thing... eloha has been working past office hours i've heard... charles, whom i had a chance to talk to yesterday had just quit his call center job and has been very busy with his other artsy sidelines... i've also learned from charles that jannpaul is working somewhere in ortigas at a call center but there's nothing to worry about because his schedule allows him enough time to still be in a band... as for william, i've yet to hear from him... me on the other hand have my time eaten up by my backbeat duties...

hopefully soon, we'll get some time to see each other again, have practice and play a few gig's in support of "just Like The Sky"...

hello everyone...

where past half-way in this month of june and i still haven't found someone who'd do a decent album cover for the Soft Pillow Kisses album... worse, i'm now confused whether to have it distributed by a certain major label who seems to be interested at putting the album out...

oh well, it's always like this anyway... i just hope i could find someone to help me out with the album cover...

Just Like The Sky!!!

hellooo...

i'm happy to let you know that i already have with me the mastered "just like the sky" album... although it was not the actual output i was expecting. just the same, i'm pretty pleased with the way it has turned out... it sounds bit polished i guess but raw-ness of the songs are still there...

13 tracks in all... my personal favorites are "16ft", "beneath the glare", "try to smile", "vodka ice #3", "taste like vintage wine", "so-called friend", "bean bag" and 'losing something"...

expect this to be out in a month's time...

we had a nice gig last night, but i learned a very important lesson: don't let eloha drink too much.

1 eloha + 2 vodka concoctions = chaos

two in a row

hello everyone

soft pillow kisses have had two great gigs during the past few days… the one in 70’s bistro last Monday was a big surprise because we didn’t expect us to sound so good. For the last few stints he had at 70’s, we always complain about how sparse we sound because of the venue’s set-up. But last Monday, it was like a different venue… the sound was all over the place which made us feel so relaxed and confident… our song “try to smile” got a real push that night thanks to the neat reverb effect of the mics…

last night naman, we played at gweilos libis for a 4AD event organized by guys from Skies Of Ember… this one we really enjoyed because aside from the really nice PA set-up and the classy feel of the place, there were lots of really pretty faces around… we started our set on a high note with “so-called friend” then slumped a bit during a pixies cover. But after that it was all skywards until the last song “losing something”…

we didn’t stay long but we did get to catch my science project who played before us and a few songs from skies of ember who I may say was really awesome that night… it’s great to see these guys in top form again…

I can’t post the rest of what happened but just to give you an idea… we were all smiles about it… ngeeeerrheeeerreeeeerrrgheerk…


tomorrow, we will be at it again at conspiracy for a semi-acoustic gig with moonstar88 and come saturday will be buzz night... if you're free, do drop by...

Buzz Night This Saturday May 13...

hello everyone...

mayrics will be openning again this thursday may 11...

this month's buzz night will be on this saturday the 13th, just a few days from now... can't wait 'til that day comes. as no now, no bands have been confirmed yet. hopefully by wednesday, i'll have a line-up of sorts...

tonight, soft pillow kisses will play at 70's bistro... tomorrow at gweilos in libis...

Recording Updates and Pillow Gigs...

hello everyone...

we are still waiting for an opportunity to have the songs remastered... i was able to talk to dominic (pink noise engineer) this afternoon regarding the adjustments that will be made with regards to the "sonic" output of the songs...

i have recently sent copies to 2 major record labels but as of late, they have still to give their comments on the album... one of them have already listened to the album and guess have undergone preliminary deliverations... the other label promised me to give it a listen this weekend... actually i'm getting tired of waiting. if only i did not spend such a large sum for this project, i'd rather have released it elsewhere pero hindi naman ako mayaman at kailangan ko mabawi ito somehow... oh well, i guess i have to consider my 2nd option of releasing it myself...

by the way. we had practice last night in preparation for 2 gigs next week. one at 70's bistro this coming monday and another one at gweilos libis also this coming tuesday. the libis gig is a 4AD thing. we'll be doing a cover from the pixies "wave of mutilation". actually we have tried to do a different take on the song but i guess such is a very difficult thing to do... we'll have another practice session this coming saturday or sunday. hopefully we get to do it right this time and add another cover, maybe a pale saints song...

hope everything goes well for us in the next few days and also we get to put out the "just like the sky" album in the shortest possible time...
